Sooty Joins The BadgersSooty, formerly of the Anthill Mob, joined the band onstage at the Wagon & Horses in Oxspring tonight filling in on drums for Gaz. Sooty is a punk at heart and made a fantastic job of Blitzkreig Bop, Pretty Vacant, and Teenage Kicks. In fact, considering that he only had a week and one rehearsal to learn the set, the outcome was remarkable. Well done Sooty! |

Gaz Lad's WeddingBadgers drummer Gaz got hitched today to his lovely new wife Lisa. The band attended the church ceremony in Beverley, Humberside, then proceeded to play an hour and a half set at the reception in the evening - and yes Gaz did play his own wedding, but how he persuaded Lisa to wear that is beyond me! The band were joined onstage by a number of musicians Gaz has played with over the years, including former Badgers bass player Dave Scales, who joined Gaz and Twig for a blast through The Surfaris' Wipeout. |

Big Day Out FestivalDue to unforseen circumstances, The Badgers unfortunately had to cancel their appearance at the Big Day Out festival at the Chestnut Tree, Barugh Green, Barnsley. They were represented on the day however by Deano, who filled in on second guitar for Steve Marshall of the Harry Coffey Band, who was away on his jollies. Deano thoroughly enjoyed his set with this fantastic blues / rock band, which included a number of classic covers such as ZZ Top's Tush, Cocaine by Eric Clapton, and a great take on Marvin Gaye's Heard It Through The Grapevine. This charity event was organised by Harry Coffey Band lead guitarist Paul Roffey in aid of the Barnsley Hospice, and was a big success with many great local and regional bands giving their time for free. Well done Paul, a good time was had by all! |

Rafters Bar, Wagon & Horses, Oxspring, SheffieldA return to the Rafters where The Badgers have spent many an evening entertaining the crowd. Tonights spot saw a couple of guest appearances, the first being Jimmy's brother Simon who accompanied Jimmy on accoustic guitar on three Oasis songs - Songbird, Wonderwall, and Morning Glory. The second guest spot of the evening featured Lacu, drummer from the classic Finnish rock band Hanoi Rocks (yes, that Hanoi Rocks), who just happened to be in the bar at the time. Lacu took over Gaz's drum stool for a storming rendition of Summer Of 69 - a stunning performance upon which Gaz commented "I'll get mi coat". |
9th December 2005 |
Spencers Arms, Barugh Green, BarnsleyA successful first gig with Jimmy back in the band. This is the second time The Badgers have played the Spencers, and both have been great with the place full to the rafters. A wide selection of covers were played spanning the fifties to present, resulting in one punter commenting "I always like coming to see you lot, you never know what you're gonna get". |
